5 killer dressings to make your salad less boring

The easiest way to make your salad less boring is by adding in a tasty salad dressing. It can turn a really blah salad or meal into something delicious! Believe it or not, you can make really simple dressings from scratch without having to go and get a store brought one – which are usually full of sugar and additives anyway.

Here are some of my favorites:

SAVORY CITRUS

Great for a beetroot type salad

  • 1 Tbsp USANAʼs OptOmega
  • 1 Tbsp orange juice
  • 1 Tbsp cider vinegar
  • 2 tsp raw coconut nectar or agave nectar
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Sea salt to taste

Blend all ingredients and serve immediately over your salad.

MISO

Awesome dressing but also a great marinade for eggplant

  • 1/4 cup flaxseed oil
  • 2 Tbsp tamari
  • 1 Tbsp miso paste
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 crushed garlic clove
  • 1 thinly sliced spring onion
  • 1 tsp finely grated ginger
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds

Whisk together and pour over salad.

SUPER CLEAN DRESSING

  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar or white wine vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 Tbsp tahini
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • Pinch of Himalayan salt and ground pepper

Whisk together and pour over salad.

CREAMY AVOCADO DRESSING

  • 1 ripe avocado, peeled and seeded
  • 1⁄4 cup silken tofu
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 3 Tbsp water
  • 2 Tbsp chopped coriander
  • 1 Tbsp tahini
  • 1 Tbsp chopped green onion
  • 1 Tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1⁄4 tsp ground cumin
  • 1⁄8 tsp chilli powder
  • Salt & ground black pepper to taste

Combine all of the dressing ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.

TERIYAKI

Perfect dressing for stir fried veggies

  • 1/4 cup tamari
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp stevia powder
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 Tbsp dijon mustard
  • Pinch Himalayan salt and ground pepper

Whisk together and pour over veggies.
